John Nikolauk

Mayor John Nikolauk has served the City of Eldorado for over 27 years, with 23 of those years as its Mayor.  A native Connecticuter, he graduated from Greenwich High School.  He later earned a B.A. from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

John entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951.  He served the USAF for 31 years.  During that time he served worldwide in various commands, including the Vietnam War.  After a distinguished flying career that included over 15,000 flight hours, John became the Deputy Commander of the Intelligence School located at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo.  Before his retirement from service in 1982, he served a brief stint as the interim Base Commander of Goodfellow AFB.  After retirement, John has worked as a defense contractor to develop computerized training modules for intelligence school currricula.

John counts among his major accomplishments as Mayor the construction of the North Water Tower, rehabilitation of the Wastewater Plant, and expansion and repermitting of the City's Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.  He is a former member of the Schleicher County School Board and currently serves on the Upper Colorado River Authority.

John is married to the former Ebbagene Blaylock of Eldorado.  John and Ebba raised four sons.  They have five grandchildren and three great grandchildren (with another on the way).
